This past weekend Wonder Boy’s mom and step-dad took us and two of their grandkids to the Newport Aquarium. I’d been there once before but never brought a camera because I didn’t think I’d ever pull off a good picture there. I was incredibly wrong!

When Chaos and Loving it had their two boys, my nephews, I ate it up and took my job as aunt very seriously. I developed a major shopping / gift giving problem and loved to find cool outfits and toys for them. I still do and usually have a stockpile of gifts for them in my attic. I love those boys! But, when I found out my sister was pregnant, I was a little hopeful for a niece just so start looking for girl clothes and toys, too. As luck would have it, I’ll finally get my chance to shop for girl clothes! The rules I made up for my nephews will still apply: nothing cutesy; aim for cool.
Over the past months I’ve been appeasing my shopping addiction with nice gender-neutral gifts that every cool kid needs like Chuck Taylors.
I also patiently waited for my sister to have her baby so I could bust out my awesome card for new moms.
I also gave this card to my sister-in-law, but there are really very few people for whom this is appropriate.
My baby sister had a baby. It’s crazy to think that you go from holding your baby sister to holding your baby sister’s baby.
This is me holding my sister 31 years ago. |
This is me holding my new niece. I did actually pick her up but I did not try to squeeze her in a bear hug, which is what I appear to be doing in that picture above with my sister. |
Isn’t she a cutie? |
I recently got my second installment from Wee Wood of the Month Club, via Little Alouette. This time I got another wooden teething only in the shape of a giraffe. So sweet!
I start off every day with coffee. Over the years I have shifted my tastes in how to prepare my coffee. It used to be that I’d order a mocha when out but drink coffee with hazelnut creamer at home. I shifted my drinking out tastes to lattes and over the last few months have opted to ditch the hazelnut creamer and use milk and sugar instead.
What I am always irritated with is the difference between how tasty my lattes from coffee shops are compared to my coffee at home. The issue is not the strength of coffee. I could care less about that. What I love is frothy milk mixed in with my drink. I’ve mentioned this many, many times to Wonder Boy but never pursued a solution. Until now.
Last night I was at Target and spotted the perfect item on clearance: a better operated milk frother by bodum. For under $4 I was willing to give it a shot.
This morning was my first go at coffee with a healthy dose of frothy milk and I am never going back. My coffee was so good! So light! So … Frothy!
This is the Battery Operated Milk Frother from bodum. To use it you just submerge he wirey end into your and press the button and voila! your milk gets frothy. |
This is my frothy coffee. Delicious! |
